Are you an Electrical Engineer whos a technical expert on communications, control systems and researching emerging technologies with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel?

Our client a rapidly growing Construction/Engineering Services company has a full- time openings for a Principal Communications Engineer for their Richland, WA office. This position will join a team that has successfully worked together in the design and installation of Radial Portal Monitor Systems in multiple countries. Job Summary
The Principal Communications Engineer is the primary company interface with the Department of Energy Second Line of Defense (SLD) Program and the supporting National Laboratory personnel on communications technologies used in the deployment of radiation portal monitors (RPMs).
As such, the Principal Communications Engineer is the senior company technical expert on communications and control systems and related emerging technologies. Systems include: radiation portal monitors, video cameras, optical character recognition, traffic controls, electronic signage, voice and data communications, Virtual Private Network equipment, software based Central Alarm System, power conditioning, UPS systems, switchgear, fiber, copper wireless and integrated networks.
The Principal Communications Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and is accountable to the Core Program Manager and Megaports Program Manager to ensure communications solution compliance with respective SLD Program requirements. The Principal Communications Engineer represents company in SLD Program Change Control Board meetings and is responsible to notify company management of the impact of proposed technical requirement changes.

Key Responsibilities
Represent company as communications subject matter expert in SLD Program Planning Meetings
Lead development of communications technical solutions supporting RPM deployments and review/approve all communications solutions
Perform communications system design calculations to verify that technical solution will support the overall project design
Prepare technical position papers and contribute to technical proposal preparation
Evaluate emerging communications and related technologies and make recommendations for use in RPM deployments
Review technical deliverables for compliance with SLD Program requirements
Host and attend meetings with SLD Program office, SLD Contractors, and National Laboratories
Support/actively participate in international planning meetings
Lead technical review of communication system vendor proposals


Requirements
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or other technical discipline: advanced degree strongly desired.
20 years relevant experience is required; international experience desirable.
Strong oral and written communications are required.
Ability to communicate scientific and technical information to non-technical personnel is desirable.
Occasional domestic and international travel is required.
Skills in AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project are highly desirable.
Advanced knowledge of control and communications software such as SCADA, Microsoft SQL, and Programmable Logic Controllers is desirable.
