Residents at New Jersey Assisted Living Send Care Packages to Troops

Last month, communities from coast to coast celebrated National Assisted Living Week (NALW) in their own unique way. This year?s theme of ?Forever Proud?, based on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, undoubtedly inspired activities and events of a patriotic note: as evidenced by communities like Emeritus at Cape May, an assisted living in New Jersey whose residents and staff assembled care packages to send to troops stationed overseas. Personal care items, snacks, stationery, and personalized thank you notes from the residents filled the boxes.

Stone Brooke, an assisted living community in Georgia, celebrated the week with a patriotic balloon release; many residents dressed in red, white and blue as they sang ?God Bless America? and sent the balloons skyward.

Elmcroft assisted living in Jackson, Tennessee, hosted a ?Celebration of the Arts? show.

Governors, mayors, sheriffs, and other community/government officials visited assisted living homes throughout the month of September, honoring the contributions of the countless senior residents who had a crucial role in building a nation we can all celebrate with pride today ? from veterans to the hard-working, dedicated family leaders who kept the country moving while wars were fought abroad.
