Salina Journal News: Walk to bring attention to domestic violence

10/1/2011

Members of the Kansas State University at Salina sorority Kappa Sigma Alpha invite the Salina community to join them in "Walking for Women" on Tuesday to bring attention to the problem of domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The event begins at 7 p.m. in the College Center Conference Room. Speakers will provide information about the prevalence of domestic violence in Salina and the area, resources for people trying to escape violent relationships, signs that someone might be in a violent relationship and how to help a family member or friend.

The Empowerment Walk will follow.

Sorority members will collect donations for the Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas during the event.
