The Mo?Kelly Report originally stated that its ?well placed spies? and church members know that Mrs. Long moved out of the house that she shared with Bishop Long.? The Mo'Kelly Report also claimed that Vanessa Long took one of the children with her because of the scandal, which involved the sexual coercion lawsuit that had been filed against Bishop Long by four young men who were previously under the pastor?s care.
Long eventually settled the case for $25 million, with the terms of the suit remaining undisclosed.
In a statement to the media, New Birth spokesman Art Franklin refuted the rumors and said they would focus on ?God?s mission for the ministry?:?
"Many people can't discern the difference between legitimate journalists and irresponsible bloggers," the statement said. "Recently, some blog entries have surfaced claiming to have anonymous sources stating that New Birth First Lady Elder Vanessa Long has moved out of the house. That claim is completely and absolutely false. Mrs. Long is very much a loving, dedicated and committed wife and mother."
Still, the Mo'Kelly Report refuses to back down:
"The Mo?Kelly Report stands behind its story regarding Vanessa Long moving from the family home.
"Through numerous conversations and correspondence with present and recently former members/ministry insiders, it became clear that the First Lady was not/is not living in the same home as Bishop Eddie Long.... These sources will remain protected as to ensure their future employment.
"The Mo?Kelly Report firmly stands behind this story and prides itself on high journalistic standards. ?There will be no retraction."
