Obama Still Skirting Around Gay Marriage | Politically ...

President Obama at Press Conference, Photo source: TVweek.com

Like a true politician, President Obama (yet again) avoided the gay marriage question during his press conference on Wednesday:

?Let me start by saying this administration under my direction has consistently said we cannot discriminate as a country on the basis of sexual orientation. And we have done more in the two and half years that I?ve been here than the previous 43 presidents to uphold that principle? What I?ve seen happen over the last several years, and what happened in?New?York?last week, was a good thing. What you saw was the people of New York having a debate, talking through these issues; it was contentious, it was emotional, but ultimately they made a decision to recognize civil marriages. And I think that?s exactly how things should work. And so I think it?s important for us to work through these issues, because each community is going to be different and each state is going to be different to work through them.?

Dude, really?

I?m not sure we will ever get a clear answer from the President unless he is re-elected. At this point, he is trying to keep voters on his side and, when it comes to gay marriage, yes and no are damning.?I?m pretty confident I can sum up his sentiments: As a Christian man he is torn between standing firm in his faith and compromising based on the Constitution?both of which are arguable to his constituents.

But?before this next election, Mr. Obama, I?m going to need an answer.
